Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 18 — Reunion Part 1 — opened the three-part couch with Pinky’s pregnancy reveal, Andy Cohen camping out in Porsha’s dressing room, and a separate empty chair Andy joked was “for Black.” I watched it on Peacock — extended cuts and all — then again with y’all on Patreon, then again this morning before I went live. Still the same read: part one felt like a sitcom. All they needed was a laugh track. I’m giving it a six, and that’s generous. And I still don’t get why K. Michelle had smoke for Drew Sidora with zero receipts.
No Receipts, Just Bloggers, Nosh, and a Hairdresser
Look, I’m going to be clear from the jump: you don’t owe Drew an apology tour, but you do owe us a reason. Part one never delivered one. Instead K. Michelle peddled bloggers, Nosh, and a random hairdresser like a rotating alibi machine, and it’s reminding me why so many people in the Bravo universe were annoyed with her at the top of the season. Here’s the thing — Jason Lee already said Phaedra’s outreach felt like a reference check, not a hit job, so spinning that into “they were plotting” is not redeeming energy. Just saying: both Pisces, both love the victim cape — she’s giving Tamar Braxton. Drew, meanwhile, got to eat. “It’s not leaking, though” after the nip-and-tuck chat was classic Atlanta shade after a whole season of unwarranted focus. Director’s cut prop included. Unless part two drops proof Drew was coming for her off-camera, I’m still here for Drew having all the smoke.
“Go be the star that you’re not.”
Porsha Got the Favorite Treatment — Then K. Michelle Told On Her Own Insecurity
Andy dancing into Porsha’s room, Go Naked bit and all, is not subtle casting politics. He flat-out told her she can probably resolve everyone except Shamea — and Porsha agreed — which is HR-nightmare favoritism if you’re the boss, even if the only real favorite is Andy’s bag. On the couch, the Nosh fight stayed confusing: you’re a whole married woman, why does it matter? Porsha’s “thank you for retelling me” impersonation, the Carlos King “I can’t be led like you new girls” clapback, and the glory-hole tennis match — Andy was like, that’s not what I know a glory hole to be — all landed harder than K. Michelle’s rewrite. Then came the tell — “go be the star that you’re not” — and even Andy’s face did a double take. Say what you want about Porsha: she is a star in an ensemble. Can she anchor a show? Different conversation. But that line told on K. Michelle’s insecurity more than it dragged Atlanta’s face.
Shamea’s Misquotes, Simon’s House Timing, and Who Even Is Jarvis
Shamea keeps inventing quotes — “BBL Shamea” that Angela never said, “in love with Black” that Drew never said, “she’s leaking” when Drew said she wasn’t. Third strike energy. Just saying. Porsha’s read on Kelly living in Shamea’s house while clocking Simon’s mansion still slapped, and that TMZ settlement drop days after the August 5 hearing still smells like reunion-week strategy to me. Miss Diane supporting Sway got Porsha emotional; the Mike apology on Peacock was unnecessary if that arc was never real. Let’s be honest. Pinky announced the only B she’s focused on is a baby. Angela vs. Pinky remains the season’s best fight — Angela won for me, even if Pinky held her own. Phaedra teased politics and Jasmine Crockett footage while Andy noted Mike dating tea “would have been interesting during the season” — bare-minimum full-time check, full-time shade. And Kelly? Whoisjarvis Instagram after I just gave her credit for taking the jokes? Get away from us with that. Nobody’s that invested.
Part Two Better Bring Receipts — or Keep the Parody Going
I’m keeping an open mind that parts two and three can still save the grade. Cynthia should have been out from minute one on that couch — she’s too central to park for later — and that mystery empty chair better not be corny. K. Michelle saying she’d do everything differently and “let it play out” is the fan-recap version of accountability without the actual apology. We shall see if that cliffhanger Shamea/K. Michelle off-camera club story is real tea or just more pivot math. Two things can be true: Drew earned her reads after a season of forced focus, and body-shade debates cut both ways when everybody’s had work done. Y’all tell me — was Reunion Part 1 mid sitcom energy, or did Porsha and Drew actually gather K. Michelle the way I saw it? How would you rate it from one to ten? Drop it below. Here we go.
