Real Housewives of Atlanta star Shamea Morton sat down for an hour-long interview on Angela Yee’s radio show and had plenty to say about Porsha Williams, Cynthia Bailey, and the cease and desist she sent Angela Oakley before reunion filming. In the same KEMPIRE breakdown, Bravo dropped the first look at Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20’s — premiering August 9 with 82 Housewives making appearances across six cities. Here’s what Shamea admitted about relevancy versus the paycheck, why her workplace story keeps shifting, and what the RHUGT trailer teases for franchise nostalgia fans.

She Told on Herself at the Top — and Is It Shade If It’s a Fact?

Let’s get into the Shamea of it all. On Angela Yee’s program, Shamea opened by saying some of her castmates need Real Housewives of Atlanta as their paycheck — their means of making a living. She says she doesn’t. But then she admitted she wouldn’t be sitting on Angela Yee doing this interview if she weren’t on the show. For her, it’s about relevancy — attention, fame, use whatever adjective you want, it’s all the same. That tracks with what we’ve been saying about Shamea all season. She’s doing this despite not feeling part of the group and taking all the criticism because the camera keeps her name in the conversation. She also reiterated that husband Gerald Mangi supports her peach, that she’s been offered one multiple times, and that she couldn’t have done it without him on board. Gerald still isn’t fully filming, but he’s somewhat willing now — a shift from before. Shamea even landed a Wayfair commercial, which she touted during the sit-down. Here’s the thing: when you say out loud that relevancy is the point, the audience hears you. And y’all loved her for about two episodes last season before the tide turned. I said it in my recaps then — rewind the tape.

“I’ve been forced to pretty much send cease and desist because unless you’re going to come forward with actual…”

The Cease and Desist, the Career Defense, and a Narrative That Keeps Moving

The clip everybody is reacting to: Shamea confirmed she sent Angela Oakley a cease and desist before reunion filming. On the show, Angela said Shamea keeps her Atlanta Hawks arena-host job so she can have access to players — not an allusion, she said it. Shamea pushed back on Angela Yee, walking through a career that started long before reality TV — Hawks in 2003, Falcons in 2005, back to the Hawks in 2012 for sideline and in-game hosting. When the regular arena host couldn’t make a game, Shamea had clothes in her locker, swapped out of uniform, and became backup — then full host when that woman moved to Los Angeles. Fair enough — you have to be somewhat good at what you do to stay that long. But I’m keeping an open mind about the shifting workplace story. On Carlos King’s show, she said she was under investigation. Now it’s office questions and a legal letter to Angela. It should be noted because we’re fair here: Shamea also started the Charles Oakley “always outside, never home” conversation before Angela’s comment landed. Didn’t you start it, married woman? A cease and desist is serious. You should respond to one. It still might not stop Angela from talking at reunion — and I’m sure it comes up tomorrow.

Cynthia, the Pool House, Happy Pride, and a Reunion She Says She’s Ready For

Shamea had more — mostly about Cynthia Bailey. She says they were cool until Dallas, where she was placed in the pool house with Kelly Rowland and felt like an outsider. The messy-room fight? I don’t think that was about cleanliness — Shamea basically confirmed the alienation read on the last episode. She claims legal wouldn’t let the group leave over a safety issue in the middle of nowhere — except they were in Dallas, and girl, you’ve got the coin. I don’t 100% believe that narrative. Cynthia kept discussing it on her podcast, which bothers Shamea, though Cynthia has been gracious compared to Angela. I’m going to give Shamea the Drew moment though — Cynthia laughing on the bed with Drew while Shamea thought Cynthia was neutral. Shamea also flagged Cynthia telling Angela that Cynthia told her she needed therapy after Shamea was vulnerable at Cynthia’s house. That’s shady. On Porsha’s “Happy Pride” post, Page Six called it homophobic; I had Shamea’s back — light shade at most, not a dig at the community. Shamea told Angela Yee she won’t be quiet at reunion, has no friendship to salvage, and will match whatever energy comes. The Scotland blowup with Porsha is still coming. This reunion is not going to fare well for Shamea — just saying.

RHUGT Roaring 20’s Drops August 9 — and Why the Group Has Picked a Side

Sidebar before we close: Bravo’s Ultimate Girls Trip Roaring 20’s trailer is stop-and-go fair use because, y’all know how Bravo can be. It premieres August 9 — twenty years, seven icons, eighty-two Housewives across six cities with Roaring Twenties costumes. NeNe Leakes appears but only filmed in Atlanta. Andy Cohen shows up in a trailer for the first time, literally between a Housewives battle — rightfully so for a twentieth anniversary. You get Miami’s Marisol and Alexia, Teresa and Melissa mid-feud, and Carol Radziwill passing a torch to Erin Lichy that reads like Bravo signaling RHONY’s return. Morocco? Don’t hold your breath. Back to Atlanta: Shamea says the belly-bowl scene exposed bias — Porsha is the queen bee and everybody wants her side, while Angela has more smoke for Shamea than she ever had for Porsha. I hear the “why all the Shamia hate” comments. Over here it’s not hate — what I see on the edited show is sometimes cringe, not entertaining. She came on for relevancy, and when you know how this audience works after years around the franchise, moving like an amateur blows up in your face. So tell me, y’all — did Angela Yee’s interview change how you see Shamea, and are you checking for RHUGT on August 9?
