Eddie Osefo took to Instagram to announce he is a licensed realtor — I Am Eddie O, new page Happy Eddie the Realtor, brokerage Garner and Company. Social media immediately asked if this is because he might lose his law license. Word on the street is if he is convicted and goes to jail, the realtor card could go too. KEMPIRE’s video walked the Maryland shortcut, the October 2025 indictment, and a January trial that has not happened yet. He has not been convicted. Here’s the breakdown.

The Jokes Write Themselves — They Still Gotta Make Money

Look, Eddie’s caption is a whole resume. As an attorney, he says he has always been intrigued by real estate development, investing, and generational wealth. Buying, selling, commercial, even space for a dispensary — he has that Happy Eddie experience — plus property management, and he can also be your closing attorney. Hashtags: real estate, entrepreneurship, generational wealth, DMV real estate. They do not necessarily live in the DMV. That does not mean he cannot sell there. KEMPIRE has worked with thousands of attorneys over the years. A lot of them did both. Here’s the thing. The jokes write themselves on “large network.” They still have to make money. Right now their biggest and most consistent check, from what we can see, is Real Housewives of Potomac. I don’t know how Happy Eddie the weed business is actually doing. Housewives claim one thing on camera. Reality is often another. Just saying.

“I’m excited to announce a new venture as a licensed realtor.”

I’m Not Faulting Them for Living — I’m Clocking the Timing

Here’s the thing. Next month it will be a year. October 9, 2025, Wendy Osefo and Eddie were arrested in Maryland and indicted by a grand jury for allegedly falsely reporting a home burglary and theft. Wendy faces seven felony counts among 16 total charges. Eddie faces nine felonies among 18. Combined, 33 counts tied to insurance fraud, conspiracy, and providing false information to law enforcement. Last update some people heard was separate trials. KEMPIRE’s read of the current posture: they are being tried together. The trial is supposed to happen in January. That used to sound far away. The holidays are right around the corner now. Twerk on the fence about them posting trips and a Jay-Z concert while this is pending. They still have children. Presume they are innocent. You do not have to post it for strangers. I’m not going to fault them for living. I am going to clock the timing of a realtor announcement before any verdict.

Maryland Waves the Coursework — Not the Character Review

In Maryland, if you are qualified to practice law, the real estate commission waives the educational and experience requirements ordinary applicants meet. You send a certificate of good standing from the Maryland courts plus a signed cover letter. That’s the shortcut people are pointing at. You still sit the state licensing exam like everyone else. If he is convicted, Maryland does not have an automatic disqualifying-crime list for a realtor card. The commission reviews case by case. Fraud is exactly the category they scrutinize hardest — theft, embezzlement, the stuff that reads as honesty. A regular person with no cameras might not flag the same way. This case is getting attention. KEMPIRE cited the Poshed versus Maryland Real Estate Commission precedent: a felony with a nexus to trustworthiness can support revocation, and the state’s highest court upheld that. Parallel exposure on the law side: Maryland’s Attorney Grievance Commission treats dishonesty or fraud convictions as grounds for suspension or disbarment. Instincts on a ripple effect are not crazy. That is still not a verdict.

I’m Not Surprised He Did It — I’m Surprised It Took This Long

Is this why Eddie got into real estate? Combination. Good business. Good money. I wouldn’t be shocked if it is also a storyline. The running joke on that cast is he is an attorney who is not practicing. In all fairness, he is a house husband on a show about her. Last season Wendy made Happy Eddie sound like it was doing extremely well. I don’t know the numbers. What I do know is legal bills. Even if they are cleared, they hired some of the best, and that invoice does not disappear. I’m not surprised at the move. I am surprised it took this long. We shall see. We will continue to follow this. Shout out to the attorneys and real estate agents in Maryland — why do you think he made this move before January? Drop it. Empire After Dark hits The Green Room 42 on September 25. Here we go.
