Tuesday takeover ran long, from a new-studio mess to Aaliyah’s 25th, and then the live interrupted itself. Variety’s Wendy Williams Peacock doc. TMZ’s Dolly Parton news while I was on air. Pinky Cole sat with Kandi Burruss and said Claudia Jordan’s reunion pregnancy tease bothered her. Claudia sent a voice memo. Then on Carlos King’s Monday Night Live she told Porsha Williams to be a leader about Shamea Morton’s embryo loss. Here’s the thing: those two speeches do not live in the same zip code.
She Didn’t Say the Name — the Couch Math Said It Anyway
Pinky told Kandi she wanted the pregnancy private. A doctor had said fibroids would make kids hard; she thought she’d be the auntie; four kids later she’s wobbling into a reunion asking for a nanny. Claudia didn’t say her name. Pinky’s point: Kelli Potter just had surgeries, Shamea is openly trying, process of elimination was so wide it might as well have been a name. I love a good tease, Pinky said, but damn — at least leave a left or a right. Makeup, hair, somebody at that reunion probably talked. She was frustrated. She’d stayed in. She wanted the moment. Then she had to tell the world herself. I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but a pregnancy is sensitive. God forbid something happens. That’s her news. And Claudia is still in proximity to this cast. If a random blog had teased it, people would feel different. Just saying.
“I love a good tease, but damn.”
The Voice Memo Was for Pinky — Everybody Else Can Kiss Her Ass
According to Carlos’s Monday Night Live, Claudia reached out. She was on set, somebody sent the clip, she watched just the clip, and she didn’t know Pinky was bothered because Pinky puts on a strong front. First thing she did was text Dustin Cole: tell Pinky to check her DMs. Then a one-minute voice memo: apology, never intended to hurt her or say her name, it was always going to be a mean little teaser for the reunion. She was happy for her. She also cleared Kelli — none of the Housewives told her, she’ll put that on God, family, cats. The source, she said, was behind the scenes and a male. That’s all you’re getting. Sixty percent of the women have her number; not one of them gave her reunion intel. The source loves it. She’s catching the bullets. Then: I apologize to Pinky and only to Pinky. Everybody else that’s mad, y’all can kiss my ass. Look, take a listen to that stack. An apology and a press tour in the same breath. Who knows if the male source is production, glam, or a story. We can’t prove that right now. We can say Pinky asked for a minute and didn’t get one.
Same Live, Different Standard
Speaking of Shamea, I recapped Reunion Part 3 yesterday: the last male embryo miscarried before the first trimester, no more embryos. Callers clocked Porsha’s face. On Carlos’s live, Claudia said Porsha should have offered a word — adult, soul, decent human, face of the franchise. She found grace for a woman who dragged her all season when that woman’s mom had cancer. She found grace for NeNe Leakes after Season 7. Their beef, she said, is a drop in the bucket next to years of friendship and a lost embryo. Dustin’s counter: the Skyland mama line is fresh, both women are still mad, and it’s unrealistic to demand a speech. Sufficient is not making a face. I’m twerking on the fence. I’d rather Porsha keep the same energy than give fake empathy Shamea would replay later. The only wrong move is an eye roll. Can we talk about the hypocrisy though? Last week Claudia spilled a pregnancy. This week she can’t see it for Porsha. Two things can be true: grace is real, and Claudia is one of those people who will not own the parallel.
It’s Only Tuesday
Word on the street and Variety: Peacock’s Clap If You Care, Wendy not involved, paparazzi I want out, still in the guardianship a lawyer said would end last year. Mid-live, TMZ plus nephew Brian Siver’s Instagram: Dolly Parton, 80, a video she asked for years ago, rest in cotton after the rhinestones. Chat also caught actor Michael Wright — Sugar Hill, The Five Heartbeats’ Eddie King Jr. — dead at 70 in Los Angeles after heart failure and a rare degenerative neurological disease, per his family’s statement to TMZ. Wednesday, wife Susan, a daughter, stepchildren. Aaliyah’s 25th sat at the top of the show. Bozoma Saint John’s Accra wedding looked lit; copyright killed the clips. RHUGT episode one was terrible; two got better; NeNe still overshadowed. Y’all, death is a reminder to the living to live more fully. How do you guys feel about that — is Claudia’s Pinky apology grown, or is the Porsha lecture the same person who couldn’t leave a pregnancy alone? Drop it below. Empire After Dark hits The Green Room 42 on September 25. Here we go.
